1.
2.
- Being able to connect to the author when reading their book
- Being able to analyze and ask myself questions when the author uses imagery in their book
- Trying to find what similarities both the author and I have in common
- Understanding where the author is coming from
2.
- The first time I was introduced to the beautiful game of soccer
- The first ever book that I read and finished in one day
- The girl that I once fell in love with but would later make a mistake and lose
- The time the girl that I loved embarrassed me on social media
- Being choked by an opposing player's father during a soccer game
I feel like these experiences have somewhat of a way to help my reading experience as I felt that these moments helped me realize how everything is a text whether you believe it or not. Everything that I experience in my life, has only been able to continue my chapter in this world and have my personal viewpoint of this society that I live in.
3.
Visual texts have helped me understand how cruel our world is and how every love story has a bad ending. The one thing that I can say helps define my childhood is a soccer ball that I still have to this day. That soccer ball has been my cure to anything toxic that I needed to get out of my body. That soccer ball made everything that I used to think about too much, go away. That soccer ball was the same one my father once used to teach me how to play. That same soccer ball still to this day is something I look at to remind myself of the good old days I wish I could relive once more.
4.
I feel that by drawing on my past reading experiences it will make me be more active with the academic community as not only do I have to just read a book, but also find a way to connect that reading to myself and my personal life. That means that I have to critically think about what I should analyze and annotate anything in the reading that I feel has something that connects to me.
I liked how you related your life events to the fact that everything is a text. I interpret Everything is a text like your experiences make up your storyline just like an author makes up a storyline for their book. Although visual texts helped you understand how "the world could be cruel" and that "every love story has a bad ending" I feel like it can show the good sides of it too!
ReplyDeleteThe main focus you are trying to say like the past experiences you had faced which soccer and a girl once you loved made you active to see the world better i guess. The lessons you learned from that. I think it is enough for your examples and it might be related with Freire by the past experiences shaped who you are right now.
